First of all, I want to say that, as a practitioner, I am NOT doing the healing. I am a conduit of Universal Life Force energy when doing Reiki (I see myself as a white PVC pipe when I do Reiki, which should be a clue to how down-to-earth I am). While working Matrix Energetics for or on someone, I am working with the quantum physics field of that particular person. While doing ThetaHealing on another, I am working with the Creator of All That Is on that person’s behalf. In each instance, the free will of the client is foremost. While I have witnessed some wonderful instant healings, there have also been instances when the changes were more subtle and appeared over time; I have come to realize the client is actually allowing the work to be done.
The difference between laying on of hands and Reiki was apparent to me right away: when I did laying on of hands on myself, I never did feel the flow of energy and when I do self-Reiki, I always feel the flow of energy. As a matter of fact, when I teach Reiki, I always strongly suggest that my students do self-Reiki every day. When a Reiki practitioner does self-Reiki every day, their experience of what is termed a healing crisis is minimized. It is a great idea for one to groom their energy fields every day, just like you brush your teeth and groom your body.
People often ask me how far they should go with Reiki training. Not everyone is going to be interested in going to the Reiki Master level, but once a person starts with Reiki, I think they owe it to themselves to at least go to the second level of Reiki. The reason is simple: the first level of Reiki is definitely physically based and within one’s comfort zone: one is dealing directly with the client with the client’s permission. The second level of Reiki introduces one to a different worldview, and with the use of the distant and emotional symbols, a whole new world of Reiki potential opens up to the practitioner. It is like magic!
Animals can benefit from energy healing, too! While Reiki is typically not a means to communicate with animals as clients, I have had situations where I became impressed with a particular animal’s energetic signature, usually in a distance healing. For instance, who knew that pigs have such an expansive energy? Animals can respond very favorably to Reiki, both direct and distant.
